Examples of Maritime Boundary MapsGeoscience Australia's Maritime Boundaries Unit provides technical advice to government agencies on the determination of maritime jurisdictional boundaries. This advice sometimes includes the production of simple maps. Click on the small maps to view the map in more detail (Adobe Acrobat Reader is required). Map of Australia's Maritime ZonesThis map (PDF 14.5Mb) depicts the various jurisdictional limits and zones which exist within Australia's maritime jurisdiction. For the purpose of this map, and pending the completion of maritime boundary negotiations, some areas of Australia's EEZ have been drawn back to the point of equidistance between neighbouring countries. This map is available in hard copy through Geoscience Australia's Sales Centre. Torres Strait MapThe Maritime Boundaries Unit has also produced a number of other maps for specific Commonwealth applications including a map of the Torres Strait area (PDF 529Kb) for the Australian Customs Service. This map is available in hard copy through Geoscience Australia's Sales Centre. Croker Island Native Title ClaimMapping services for the Australian Government Solicitor in relation to Native Title Claims where claims extend over coastal waters. The 1998 Croker Island Case in the Federal Court is an important example of this work. The map left (PDF 69Kb) forms Schedule 2, "The Commonwealth Map", of the recent Federal Court Determination. Please note that the Geographic Limits of the Northern Territory as shown on this map are not the limits as defined by the Federal Court Determination (Note on the map refers). |
