Gawler-Curnamona project
Project description
The Gawler-Curnamona project will acquire, process and interpret pre-competitive geoscience information related to energy resources in the Gawler and Curnamona Provinces to help identify areas of potential prospectivity and to promote new data and results to industry.
Project outcome
- Increased investment in exploration for onshore energy-related resources, particularly geothermal, uranium and thorium within the Gawler and Curnamona Provinces; and
- improve discovery rates for onshore energy-related resources.
Project outputs 2007/08
- Compilation and analysis of available geological and geophysical information delivered as GIS layers and spreadsheets;
- project scope and planning documents outlining the energy related scientific questions to be addressed by the project and the tools to be employed;
- seismic data acquired along several transects in the Gawler and Curnamona Provinces; and
- acquisition of other data (e.g. geochronology and geochemistry) begun to facilitate interpretations of the new geophysical data.
