Geoscience Australia Cadetships

Cadetship banner

Our unique Cadetship program began in 2007 with the recruitment of five students from the Australian National University (ANU). An additional four cadets joined the program in 2008. They will be starting their second rotation projects during the 2008 summer semester break.

We are looking for bright, enthusiastic people with a proficiency in science and maths, who are currently in Year 12 and/or are about to enrol at the ANU in the following course:

  • Bachelor of Global and Ocean Sciences (Honours).

We are currently working with the Canberra Institute of Technology (CIT) to extend this successful program to students who are enrolled in the following course:

  • Advanced Diploma in Spatial Information Services.

Geoscience Australia’s cadetship program was created to encourage people into geoscience and geospatial careers that are rewarding, exciting and diverse. All cadets are exposed to a variety of work environments and participate in a specially designed program that incorporates a number of professional work experience placements, as well as academic mentoring. This experience in the professional arena will help the cadets to make informed decisions about future career pathways in the geoscience and geospatial environments. The program also strives to prepare the cadets for possible future employment with Geoscience Australia.

Applications for our ANU cadetship program will open in April 2009.
