Please note: These downloads are intended for use in geographic information systems (GIS), computer-aided design (CAD) or image-processing systems. All the vector products are provided in at least the following formats:

• ArcInfo Export;
• ArcView Shapefile; and
• MapInfo mid/mif.

You will need specialist software to fully utilise and manipulate the data. Free viewers that are compatible with the formats provided are available to download from ESRI, MapInfo, and ER Mapper.

Register

To download a dataset you must first register. Registration details are used for licensing and monitoring product usage. Please see our privacy statement for further information.

Once you have registered you will receive an access key via email. Use this access key and your email address to log in. The access key is valid for one week (with the exception of MODIS & NOAA satellite data access keys which DO NOT expire). After that time, you will need to register again to obtain a new access key.

Each dataset has a unique licence arrangement. You will need to register for each download separately to agree to dataset specific terms and conditions. The system will not allow, for example, an access key issued for Global Map data to be used to download AMBIS data.

Log-in pages are available below, select the "Login to download" option for the dataset you want to access.

Download

Some datasets are large, so please ensure you have adequate disk space before commencing a transfer. The size of each dataset is listed. Metadata and data user guides have also been provided for your convenience.

Files and directories have been compressed using tar and gzip. You will require a tool to decompress and extract the data. Tools to do this are available free online.
